Adding Pettibon Rehabilitation into a clinic setting can be FUN as proven in a recent set of photos we received from Dr. Ginzburg (thank you for your permission to share). Take a good look around your clinic ask yourself is your environment prepared for patients, does it have the feel that patients enjoy, how’s the Fun Factor?

The rehab area of this clinic appears to be patient ready and an enjoyable place for rehabilitation. As we get requests for recommendations on hanging the 2-piece traction wall mounts, thought this definately worth sharing.

In the second picture the clinic incorporated nature in a couple ways. You probably first noticed the bird appearing to sit on the traction handle. What’s also interesting is how the semi-circular arc on the repetitive traction mirrows the semi-circular shape of the bird flying above the wall mount.

Well done to the interior designer/decorator who came up with this idea. It’s wonderful!

I have corresponded with you before and this is an update. I finished my treatments with Dr. Logan in Medford at the end of May,2011. I have done a little home care since then, but only about 10 percent of normal. It has been 5 months and I am still relatively pain free. Only once did pain return over 2 or 3 days and I jumped on my chair and floor with the back supports underneath, and little by little I snapped out of it.

Yesterday my son and I went to the coast (I drove) and we walked over a mile on the beach. We drove 300 miles. I was completely pain free. So the 100 odd treatments during the 11 months in 2010-2011 had lasting results, and I am very satisfied with my investment. I firmly believe in your method and know that it has lasting, structural results. I still have all my home therapy utensils and will start again in earnest as preventive therapy is needed I know as I get older. Thank you for a year and a half of back improvement. I’M 95%, WERE I to measure, and that is great.

TACOMA, Washington, (August 15, 2011) – Dr. Todd O’Mealy, D.C., a Certified Pettibon Doctor, received the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service “for his absolutely outstanding customer service and quality of care while performing his duties as staff chiropractor, Madigan Healthcare System, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, from September 2010 to June 2011.”

“Dr. Todd advises he does what he does because he loves it and it is a combination of heart and hands. He has brought Pettibon Rehabilitation to the light there simply because that is what he knows works,” said Sharon Freese-Pettibon, President of The Pettibon System. The company extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. O’Mealy for serving our military.

On Tuesday Dr. O’Mealy was called forward in front of the entire physical medicine department at Joint Base Ft. Lewis/McChord and the people were called to attention and he was given a medal and a letter of commendation for outstanding chiropractic service above and beyond the call. Of 100 comments forwarded to command, 40 were about Dr. Todd and 30 were about his staff. The following excerpt is from the Letter of Justification for the Achievement Medal.

“As part of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s Customer Service Program “Reach for the Stars”, Dr. Todd O’Mealy accrued 40 comment cards far exceeding any other employee in the entire department. His impeccable professionalism and customer service with department staff, other providers and most importantly, patients, sets him apart from average providers. Patients rave about the care they receive from Dr. O’Mealy citing him as the best provider at Madigan. Patients are elated by their experience with Dr. O’Mealy citing his care and compassion; someone who really listens and goes the extra mile for them. Patients relay that Dr. O’Mealy is the first provider who has helped them with their pain which has allowed them to continue in their duties.

Always a team player, Dr. O’Mealy, is always ready and willing to perform in any capacity necessary to complete the mission. Dr. O’Mealy goes out of his way time and time again to ensure patients always get an appointment in a timely manner and works around their work schedules to best accommodate. His selfless service and dedication to his patients and their needs is illustrated in his actions and the satisfaction of the patients he serves. He always provides exceptionally high quality care, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his duties. Dr. O’Mealy sets the example for other civilian providers to emulate.”

We receive touching letters from time to time from patients and this one came in right before Christmas. When Sharon and Dr. Burl read it, Burl got tears in his eyes and said “that makes it all worth it.” Keep sending those letters in we love hearing the stories!

Dear Dr. Pettibon, Dec 23rd 2010

Merry Christmas! I contacted you two months ago, and want to give you an update on my progress. I have continued active treatment with Dr. Logan, here in Medford, and have stepped up my home care as time goes on. I invite you to examine my latest x-rays taken last week. I think you will be satisfied with my progress so far, as it must be kept in mind that I have considerable degeneration both in the neck and lower back. How much future progress remains to be seen, but it is incredible that your method not only has arrested the 40 year in progress degeneration, but it appears to be reversing the process. I take liberties in this offer, as these X-Rays belong to Dr. Logan, but I’m sure he would be willing to share them with you. I have one more month of active treatment, then I do a yearly one month trip to Tucson for a Gem show. I hope to resume treatment upon my return and will continue my home care in Arizona.

My goal is to someday see my X-rays on your home page and to hope to achieve that, I will have to work very hard. This won’t be hard to do at all, as my support group very well may be the best anywhere in the world!

Could that be an exaggeration? We shall see!

    Sincerely yours, James W

This week we received a heart warming letter from a patient of Dr. Mark Logan’s in Medford Oregon. This patient’s experience is why Dr. Burl Pettibon created The Pettibon System and why we as a team work diligently to support our doctors who are making a HUGE difference in so many lives. With their permissions, here is the letter:

Dear Dr. Pettibon,

I wish to thank you as I am a patient of yours through Dr. Logan

here in Medford Oregon. My particulars are of the more serious

nature, which gives more importance, in my case, to the real value

of your research and Pettibon System development. In two months,

Dr. Logan has inspired me with his knowledge, dedication, and his

burning desire to help people like me. Yes, he has helped me so much

in this short period of time.

Dr. Logan uses a scientific approach and documents everything he

does precisely. My assumption is that you gave him valuable guidance.

When my treatment is concluded I will find the words to thank

Dr. Logan with all my heart. Right now, I can only hope that you can

realize the positive impact that your correctly practised system has

had on my life. I'm 59, and hope to work another 10 years, thanks to

you, Dr. Logan, and his assistant Jessica.

I will have serious back issues for the rest of my life, but your

system has given me hope, and the home care is so ingenious and simple

that I hope to follow it for the rest of my active life. Again,

thank you Dr. Pettibon, for your dedication to people like me, and for

opening the door to people like Dr. Logan.

Sincerely yours,

JW

After experiencing mid-west rain last week at Palmer’s Homecoming event in Davenport Iowa, we may not complain about rain in the NW the same way. People from the Northwest are a hearty group when it comes to rain (or so we thought). We endure our “rainy months” where all you need is a jacket with a hood if you don’t care to have slightly wet hair when you come in doors.

So when we heard that it was raining outside after a day in the Pettibon Booth and watched people waiting to walk to their cars, Jenn & I thought “WIMPS!” and took off for the rental car parked across the street from the building we were in. You need to keep in mind that it had only been raining for at the most 20-30 minutes. For those of you who graduated from Palmer College, you can stop smurking because you know where this is headed! At least we had the sense to roll our pants up a couple turns before heading out, not that it did much good.

One thing dear reader that you must understand is that I’m a scuba diver and am used to being wet. My years of diving the Puget Sound and enduring countless years of “winter rain” that begins in the fall and goes sometimes right through spring unfortunately did NOT prepare me for what we experienced that fine Friday the 13th of August.

We walked out the Alumni Building to cross the small parking lot, go down a few steps and cross the street to the Gymnasium parking lot feeling rather smug. ”We’re from Seattle” we said over our shoulders, “we’re used to rain!” as we headed out on what turned into a quest to get into the car. By the time we hit the half way point to the stairs, my glasses had to come off. The rivers of rain cascading down through the jungles of hair made us long for windshield wipers for the face and then longed for my scuba mask. We realized this rain was NOTHING like our lovely NW rain! This was clearly not the kind of rain you could simply shake off and still continue on with your day looking no worse for wear. So completely soaked, and only half way to the prize we were committed to taking a shower in our clothes as we approached the top of the stairs. The car, there is was we could see our goal.

Down the stairs we squished, trying to dodge as many puddles as we could. Had we known what was coming next, I think we would have just jumped into those with both feet to see how high the splash went, as we did in our childhoods. Finally, our trek had brought us to the sidewalk . The car was still in sight, just across the street was the shelter of our lovely rental car. As we surveyed the flash flood cascading down the street throwing white caps on the front tires of the cars parked at the curb, Jenn did the smart thing. She took off her shoes and started wading through the water.

How I longed for my dry suit and underwater camera housing, no one was going to believe this tale from the road… With no extra hands for sandles, I waded in ankle deep (1-1/2″ heel on my sandles) water to cross the road. Fortunately the driver coming up the road managed to see the two of us sad souls crossing the street and slowed down to enjoy the show. The small river on the other side of the street somehow did not seem AS deep…

Finally, our epic quest was coming to an end. The cheerful churp of the locks being opened somehow had a mocking tone. They seemed to say Silly Tourists you’re nuts! Once we entered the protection of the car is when the laughter rang out. We laughed until our sides ached and then grabbed the camera. If you’d like to experience Iowa rain yourself, turn your shower on so that it’s about 65 degrees F and step into your shower fully clothed for about 2 minutes. That’s all it takes! To dry out shoes afterward, that takes another 38 hours…

It rained that evening for about an hour and then resumed to mostly beautiful weather. Saturday we did manage to get Jenn to the Mississippi River to see it for the first time…

We have received a couple of pictures from people using the equipment with interesting stories and wanted to share…

The first comes from Dr. Cohen whose daughter frequently comes into the office with him. One morning as he was getting ready he found Alexa doing this:

She then turned to him and said, “you do”. Future Chiropractor???

The second story comes from a local baseball player who had back pain during baseball season. Determined to find a solution that would help keep him in the game, he worked with his Pettibon Chiropractor. Chance was given several easy to follow exercises and didn’t miss a game after incorporating this into his active lifestyle. He sent us this photo from a pregame warm up:
