Maureen,

No individual is alike. In many instances, once people are complete with their Pettibon treatment program, they continue to perform their home spinal weighting system 1-2 days a week for maintenance. Performing your home weighting allows you to only have to see the chiropractor a couple of times a year, rather than continually going on a weekly basis or more. It's the same reason you brush and floss your teeth at home, so you don't have to go to the dentist every week to have him/her do it for you.

There is a certain amount of lifestyle modification required. However, adding the Pettibon weighting system to your daily routine is quite simple considering you don't even have to do it every day once you've completed your prescribed treatment program from your Pettibon chiropractor.

Ann,
How often do you use the home maintenance? I hope you still don't have to use the weights 2x day every day, do you?
I'm on the fence about this. I did 'traction' years ago and found relief but am back in the same spot again now with the same reverse C curve and pain. I want results that will stick with me as I age! Thanks for your input.

I have a long history of spinal trauma with the first surgery in 1988 and the second in 1999. I actually had no choice since I had ruptured discs and nerve damage. But, determined to never have another one I set out to find an answer. I did the normal chiropractor rounds, physical therapy and every exercise known to man but nothing really took care of the pain.
What I developed immediately after the surgeries were more problems: fibromyalgia, CFS, spinal pain, neck pain, nerve damage to the point where my leg muscles were continually moving and cramping. I became chronically constipated as well. All this had to be related to the spine, right?
Finally I went to a chiropractor in Anchorage, Alaska and he was using the Pettibon System. I tried it for a couple of weeks and felt better so I decided to buy the system. After 2 weeks, I thought I was feeling better. In 6 weeks, I was no longer hurting or constipated and my legs weren't moving as if worms had taken up residence. I could sleep again!
I followed the instructions and used the full system. I didn't use shortcuts and even took the system with me when I traveled. Two times a day, every day.
That was 5 years ago and I'm still a hardcore believer. I don't believe this system will work unless there is strict adherence. I have noticed if I slack off for a month my symptoms begin to return. My spine will never be normal but I can keep it molded and working with this system.
